Principal's Welcome

Andrew Greene, Principal

Welcome to Candlewood Middle School, a warm supportive learning environment. Our staff is committed to meeting the needs of the early adolescent child as well as teaching them to be more responsible for their learning. We provide a rigorous academic program in a supportive, compassionate environment.

Young adolescents are at a unique time in their lives. For many students it represents an opportunity to choose behaviors that will result in a more productive life and their last best chance to avoid problems in their future. Middle school students are neither elementary nor secondary students; they are members of a unique additional level. They have their own set of characteristics that must be treated with appropriate strategies designed to positively impact the many physical, emotional, and social changes they are experiencing. We work hard at balancing academic excellence, with personal development and skill acquisition.

At Candlewood, the faculty is constantly looking for ways to improve our program. We have worked diligently on our mission, vision, and commitments [indicated below], and we constantly assess what works and what needs to be improved. This helps ensure that students are prepared to do the work that will enable them to be successful in high school and beyond.
We are confident that as your child leaves Candlewood, they will be ready to take on the future challenges that will come their way.
